What we want to achieve

  • Raise aspirations of disadvantaged and disaffected young people in S2 and/or S3.
  • Inform learners about a range of opportunities including Skills for Work and vocational programmes in college as positive options for S3 and/or S4.
  • Prepare learners in order that they can make a successful transition from a school to college environment.
  • Track learners to monitor retention and achievement and inform the future delivery of the programme.
  • Monitor and review provision to ensure courses meet the learner needs.

Programme Information

Routes 2 Success aims to work with pupils in target schools across the South East Forum’s area, delivering workshops with Careers Advisors and Student Mentors from Colleges and also offering a taster day at the pupils local college.

This programme builds on the work of the original Routes 2 Success project that ran from 2006-2008.

It targets pupils who: attend a school with HE progression rates lower than 25%; live in the two most deprived quintiles (as defined by the Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation); receive free school meals; fall into the ‘looked after’ category; have been adversely affected by social or economic circumstances.
