Record numbers opt for further Learning

Almost two-thirds of Scottish school-leavers are now going to university of college – the highest ever level.
As the recession bites, official figures released yesterday showed the proportion going straight into a job fell from nearly one-quarter to one-fifth.
Instead, 62% of Scotland’s 53,000 school-leavers went into higher or further education – up from 56% last year.
Such a large increase will result in additional pressure on funding and places.
