Youth Link - Being Young in Scotland 2009 Report

YouthLink Scotland produces Being Young in Scotland every two years.  The document offers a unique insight into the hopes, fears, attitudes and aspirations of our young people from 11-25 years of age.

It gives national and local policy makers, youth and children’s practitioners useful and up-to-date intelligence which can be translated into important policy and practice decisions over the next planning cycle.

SFC announce allocation of the General Fund and Horizon Fund 2010/2011

Scotland’s 20 universities are to receive £1.12 billion of funding for teaching, research, and maintaining their estates for the 2010-11 academic year. Funding has also been provided to support innovation in strategic areas such as skills, employability and wider access to university education.

The investment, which comes from the Scottish Further and Higher Education Funding Council (SFC), represents an overall increase of £15.3 million or 1.4 per cent on 2009-10 funding.

Universities face £1million fine for too many students

Scottish  universities have been fined a total of nearly £1 million for over-recruiting students during the recession.

Four of the country’s higher education institutions have been penalised by the Scottish Funding Council (SFC) as a result of the record number of students taking up places in 2009-10.
