Community Access to Mainstream Learning (CAML) – 2005-2006

Aimed to encourage and enable community-based adult learners with few or no qualifications to access mainstream tertiary learning by providing pre-access level provision.

Community Learning and Student Support (CLaSS) fund – 2005-2008

The SEF formally awarded CLaSS grants where, Partners were able ro apply for a grant up to the value of £15,000 to pilot work.

Community Tutor Training Pack

Aim to establish a minimum standard of training for tutors working in a community-based setting (regardless of the level or scope of provision) through provision of a resource pack.

Diverse Routes to Higher Education Project: ‘Diversity Pack for Black and Minority Ethnic Groups, Refugees and Asylum Seekers’ (national project) – 2005-2008

Aim to increase participation of black and minority ethnic groups, including asylum seekers and refugees, in higher education and increase the diversity of the student population in Scotland.

The Escalator – 2005-2006

Aims to encourage the progression of under-represented groups in West Edinburgh from less formal (“community level”) to more formal tertiary provision by tackling low self-esteem and self-efficacy beliefs and using existing referral and guidance networks.

Facilitating Black and Ethnic Minority Students into Social Work – 2005-2007

Aims to improve recruitment and retention of Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) students into recognised qualifications in the areas of Social Work and Social Care to address under-representation in these areas by promoting them as viable careers.

Foundation Year: HE Certificate in Creative Industries

Aims to provide hard to reach groups with an HE level award in Creative Industries and a route into higher education or employment.

Mental Health Provision

Aims to provide a route into mainstream learning and supported employment, as a first step for learners who have experienced mental health problems.

On Route…Pathways from College to University – 2005-2008

The On Route project was the South East Forum’s college-university partnership programme which aimed to support students in their transition from college to univesrity.

Support for Subject-Level Activities to Promote FE-HE Articulation (national project)

Aims to promote appropriate activities that will improve the effectiveness of articulation between HNC/D programmes and degree programmes.

Up Your Street

Aims to encourage local people from deprived areas in Midlothian to engage in a formal credit-bearing programme in a community setting and with a focus on “Healthy living”.
